Studio Policy & Agreement
This STUDIO POLICY AND AGREEMENT (“Studio Policy”) is made and entered into this first day of September, 2024 (for current students) or the first lesson of 2024 (for new students who begin after June 1, 2024), by and between Achondoa Piano Studio (“Studio”) and the Students (and their parents) of the aforementioned studio (“Student”).
1. Lessons. This Studio Policy and Agreement is a legal contract between Studio and Student for private, individual music lessons provided by Studio to Student. Student agrees to enroll with Studio for such lessons and abide by the provisions of the Studio Policy, as a condition to Studio providing music lessons to Student.
2. Lesson Schedule. Private individual lessons are conducted on a weekly or semi-weekly basis, for either 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 60 minutes, depending on the assessed level and development of the Student. The length of the lesson remains the same, regardless of tardy arrival by Student. Lessons longer than 60 minutes may also be arranged in certain circumstances, such as preparation for advanced-level performances, competitions, technical evaluations, auditions, etc. Each student is designated a specific, ongoing weekly or semi-weekly day and time for lessons which has been reserved exclusively for Student, which generally precludes Studio from accepting other teaching or performing opportunities during that time. Therefore, Students are expected to attend all scheduled lessons, unless otherwise arranged in advance with the Studio.
3. Payment. Prepaid Monthly Lesson tuition is to be personally delivered to the Studio by the first lesson of the month. Arrangements may be made by students who would like to pay in advanced for lessons 3 or 6 month lesson bundles. Discounts for such plans can be arranged between the studio and the students. Acceptable methods of payment are by personal check, cash, or electronic payment (Venmo, Paypal, Interac E-Transfer, etc.)
4. Annual Tuition Increase. Tuition shall increase on the first day of each school year (beginning in September), keeping up with the approximate rate of inflation and the cost of living.
5. Cancelled Lessons. Lessons canceled unexpectedly are eligible for either a make-up lesson within 10 days of the usual lesson time, or a 50% credit for a lesson in the next month. (Personal and health emergencies will not be penalized). However, in the event of an anticipated cancellation, students should provide at least 24 - 48 hours’ advanced notice so that the Studio can attempt to reschedule the Student’s lesson or use the space for other Studio business. Lessons cancelled by the Studio for any reason other than scheduled Studio closures or holidays will be provided a make-up lesson. The Studio will strive to provide advance notice for such closures.
6. Studio Closures. Lessons are provided throughout the entire calendar year, except for during Studio Closures. The Studio will be closed for Christmas/winter break (exact dates TBD) and for a few weeks for summer break (exact dates TBD). The Studio will also be closed on Thanksgiving weekend, New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, etc.Tuition is not charged for lessons that are not taken due to Studio Closures.
7. Termination of Lessons. Lessons are continuous and ongoing, effective as of the date of this Studio Policy and Agreement written above. Student may terminate lessons for any reason. To terminate lessons, Student must provide at least two weeks advance written/e-mail notice to Studio.
